           Chapter 1 is based on interaction design about what is good or bad design, user experience, the process of interaction design, and HCI designer’s goal. First of all, there are two different examples of voice mail box and remote controller. Voice mail example tells about even it is good design to make for people. It should not complicate, confusing, and difficult use like remote control example. TiVo remote control is based on take time and effort for user, so TiVo remote design is large button, clearly labeled and logically arranged, and make it easy locate. What and who involved interaction design is action or influence of user experience the way people work, communicate, and interact. Also designers need to consider about user, technologies, and interactions for user experiences. User experience is important to know and considered about for designer. There are many comments (user experience) about specific product in newspaper, internet, and magazine. Many people are read and write user experience because it is better know before buy product. Designers is for sure considered about user experience for improve their product. Process of interaction design is consider user experience, develop their product design, build better interaction design so designer communicate and assessed, and evaluating user experience offer. According to test book, effectiveness, efficiency, safety, utility, learnability, and memorability are important for interaction designer. Usability goals of purpose are to provide the interaction designer of interactive product and the user experience.

           There is an interesting issue of example of voice mail. I imagine a picture of example, when I go to trip and forget to bring my cell-phone. If it takes too much time to get in voice mail box in hotel, then people will just buy pre-paid cell phone. In chapter 1, interaction designs are many things to consideration of design, price, creative, and etc. For my experience, when I went to Bestbuy to buy laptops few days ago. I check many web-sites for look up user-experience, design, performance, price, weight, and more. I think interaction designer is considering of many ideas to improve products. Only better design can’t be better seller but it gives to people better choice.

    You have hit on several of the major points of the first chapter. A great portion of it was in laying out user experience and usability as the two main goals of HCI design. From your personal experience has shown that quality design is becoming more and more important for consumers when there are many different options to choose from. If designers can learn about the values of their consumers and can turn these into user experience and usability goals to design for, new designs will line up better with what people want and will have a higher likelihood of making sales.

    In the future for your blog summaries, go a little bit more into the examples that you give. What are the consequences for designs such as Tivo in relation to other such products? It was pretty revolutionary when it came out. Why? And how does this change the landscape of design for other HCI designers? Also, can you be more specific about how your experience as a consumer buying a laptop will affect the way you will design?

    I agree with manhan regarding the voice mail problem. It is very painful if you are not carrying your cellphone and you want to check the messages left. The Designers can design it in a much better way and could have made it more user friendly. To make the design much better there could be a system in which you just dial the mail box number and then your phone number and then you could access it. Although many privacy issues could arise from this there could be some security attached to it.
    There was another product which i thought had a very bad design. But it got changed later. I am talking about the telephone GPS which just got updated. The process was very bad. First you had to call the call center tell them where you want to go. Many problem arise because of this such as the representative can lead you to the wrong direction. It is to slow. The maps are not updated. when i used it i was really dissapointed. But now i feel the designers have done a great job with the new GPS. These new devices are very easy to use and make life much easier.

    I really liked your summary of the chapter. You hit all the points such as the Tivo remote and the part about the voicemail. I also like how you related your own experiences, ie. buying a laptop to the subject matter. Thank you.
